Your event will kick off with an engaging and knowledgeable brief from your event manager explaining how the activity will work. Once that is wrapped up, it’s then over to you to download the app and get started!
Only one person per team will need to download the app. Once you are ready, hit play to start your adventure; remember to snap your winning team pic before you race out the door!

Highest Score Takes All!
The ultimate goal for a Red Herring treasure hunt is to be the team with the most points.
In order to gain points you must get to as many GPS located hotspots as you can on the map. There is no set route on our treasure hunts, simply travel around the game zone as quickly as you can, completing challenges and collecting Herrings (more on that below!).
Simply tap a challenge to see how many points it is worth; use this to plan out your route to beat the competition!

Within the app there are loads of interactive challenges at your fingertips! With tasks ranging from creative photo and videos challenges to energising memory tasks, fun music quizzes and quirky trivia, everyone will find their moment to shine.
Red Herrings!
The fun doesn’t end there! Scattered across the game zone are special challenges that unlock valuable bonuses.
Successfully complete one, and your team could receive an all important herring! Collect as many as possible to maximize your chances of victory. The more herrings you collect, the higher your odds for the big win.
But beware: there’s a serious catch! A blue herring will massively boost your team’s ranking, but a dreaded red herring will result in a heavy points penalty. The risk? You won’t know which color you’ve earned until it’s too late!

A live leaderboard keeps the competition going
Where’s the fun without a little competitive spirit? A live leaderboard will keep your teams engaged and focused on the big win until the very end of the event.
This feature is turned off in the final moments to keep the momentum high and the winners a surprise
Chat with other teams and the event manager
This feature is your chance to communicate with your opposing teams. Banter with the other teams, wind up your boss, but most importantly, keep in touch with your event manager.
All of our events include an onsite events manager to run your event for you at no extra cost, completely hassle and worry free!
Anytime challenges
Not all challenges within the game require you to travel to them. Simply tap the challenges button on your app if you think the time is right to snap your winning photo!

What you need
Red Herring treasure hunts are designed to be simple for you, minimal fuss, maximum fun! All you need is:
- A venue for the starting brief and results.
- A smartphone for each team. You will need to make sure they are fully charged before starting your adventure.
- Comfortable footwear and clothing for all weather conditions.
- A competitive spirit!
