Common questions
How much is it?
A Red Herring treasure hunt is priced per person.
We provide remote managed events at £20 per person. For an onsite event manager this price is the same at £20 per person. Both options have an additional fee for the event manger/ remote host. This is priced at £200 for remote events and £500 for onsite events.
We also have a minimum booking fee of £560 for remote bookings and £860 for onsite event management. This covers you for up to 18 guests.
For example a remote hosted event for 25 guests would cost £750.
All costs are PLUS VAT.
Do you provide smartphones?
We don’t provide any smartphones, that one comes down to you. Just make sure they are fully charged and have at least 1 ready per team and you’re all good to go!
Is there an onsite host?
Yes we can provide both remote and onsite event managers. Please see the ‘How much does it cost’ drop down for more information and pricing.
What is the minimum group size?
There isn’t really a minimum group size however you would want at least 2 teams so no less than 6-10 guests.
We do have a minimum booking fee of £520 + VAT which covers you for up to 18 players.
What happens if it rains?
We always recommend rain coats and appropriate footwear, but if the weather is torrential, we can turn your treasure hunt into an indoor interactive quiz instead.
How many people in a team?
We would recommend 3 – 5 people in a team.
How soon do we need to book?
Our busiest months are June, July & September, however we will always try our best to accommodate you so please get in touch to confirm our availability!
Where can I have my treasure hunt?
We have pre-set routes all over London and all major cities. Have a look at our locations page to see if we cover an area near you! Our list is always expanding so please get in touch to enquire about a city that isn’t listed.
Red Herring runs corporate treasure hunts across 18 UK cities including London, Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, Bristol, Brighton, Cambridge, Oxford, Stratford-upon-Avon, Chester, Cheltenham, Milton Keynes, Nottingham, Newcastle, Warwick, Windsor, and York. New locations are added regularly — contact the team if your city isn’t listed.
Does Red Herring provide prizes?
Whilst our standard package doesn’t include any prizes, we do have upgrades available if you wanted to add this on.
Get in touch with the team today to find out what upgrades are available. They range from £15 for team medals for example.
How long can the treasure hunt be?
Our treasure hunts are 1.5 – 2.5 hours long. This includes a 15 minute briefing and 5 minutes for the results.
What do we need for the start & finish brief?
For large groups, we highly recommend securing a screen and venue for your brief. If you’re unsure about the best setup, don’t hesitate to reach out; we are on hand to help you! Beyond that, just bring yourselves, your team, and your phones, and you’re all set!
What if I run out of data on my smartphone?
No problem! The app will still work offline, you just need to connect to WiFi to view your points and use the chat.
What if my phone dies?
Don’t worry! One of your teammates will be able to log in to the app using their phone instead.
